Christmas Card!

I must say, that I am very proud of our Christmas spirit this year. The first year we were married, we decked out every inch of the apartment with garland and all sorts of Christmas decorations. I also managed to get our home made Christmas card {photo} out in a decent amount of time. Last year.. was a different story. Some time got away from us and we completely missed putting up our tree and definitely didn’t get our Christmas cards out in time. They turned into Happy New Year cards, but even then, I think only our immediate family and a few friends were privileged to see those. This year, I think we are making a come back. Our tree has been up for a few weeks (however not quite decorated yet), I am hosting a girls cookie decorating party with our youth group kids from church, and I am in the process of getting our Christmas cards out! Yay, us!

I should probably add that this is the first year we have taken a CHRISTMAS picture instead of picking something that was relevant from the previous six months. We set up the tripod and took some quick pictures when we were up in the mountains for Thanksgiving, and I love the way they turned out. I feel like the describe us perfectly.. especially the one we chose for our Christmas card. Merry Christmas!

Featured!

I’m super excited to announce that yesterday (yes, a day late) my lemon grove styled wedding shoot was featured on Wedding Chicks! This was my first feature on a wedding blog, so definitely a big deal in my book. Thanks to all my girls who came alongside this photoshoot and gave of your talents to make it even better than initially imagined it to be.

Take a look here for yourself and leave some lovin’.

Charlotte

My chunka-munka. You are vibrant and full of little {BIG} giggles. You are silly and your laugh is contagious. I hope you never grow out of your Shirley Temple curls. You are curious and full of adventure. You are strong willed and yet so loving. You light up when your daddy comes in the room and you can’t wait for your big sister to come home from school. You are a gem. And for this, I love you.

I was able to spend a few days with one of my dearest friends  and her family a few weeks ago and for some reason my camera didn’t come out much except to capture some silly moments with Char.

*Of course I couldn’t pick just one. Can’t get enough of those chubby cheeks!

Suprise! Suprise!

Happy Friday! I am beyond excited to announce that Rachel Marie Photography is now listed as a preferred vendor on A Paper Proposal! Its a newer wedding blog that I love to follow geared towards giving brides-to-be some fresh inspiration. If you click on “Vendor” it will take you to her preferred vendors page and I’m the 4th one down (also check out the ad on the main page). Woot Woot! Take a look at her site, and leave her some love!

Anniversary Weekend

This past weekend we celebrated our two year wedding anniversary! To celebrate, we decided to take a break from life and we drove down to Palm Desert and spent the weekend at the pool. It averaged about 104 degrees each day so to say it was hot …is an understatement. The heat aside, it was so nice to spend some quality time together and do absolutely NOTHING. :)

On Monday, we drove another 30 miles south to the Salton Sea. It’s known for its (too) high salt content ha. Its absolutely beautiful. The water is really blue and clear, beautiful mountain landscape in the background, white sandy beaches, and…smelly, dead fish along the shore! yeah..EW. So we get there and realize we are the only people there..even the visitor center is closed. It was like an episode out of the twilight zone. So we walked down to the shoreline and noticed a few dead fish here and there (slightly expected). The farther we got the more dead fish we saw until we happened upon the motherload: there were lines of HUNDREDS and hundreds of fish skeletons on the sand! sorry, not even skeletons. Roasted, rubbery fish. Sorry for the graphic depiction, but if your brave enough I have some pictures to show you. :)

So all in all it was a fun adventure and something we can check off our list

Weekend Happenings

This past weekend was A-mazing. It was the first weekend in quite a while that my husband and I were actually able to relax together all day and go out on a date night! On Saturday, we meandered around the Orange traffic circle for a few hours and found this really cool flea market! If you know me at all, you will know that I LOVE all things ‘bird’. Specifically owls. So with that in mind, I found this wooden platter with a bird design and I snagged it before anyone else noticed this vintage gem. Hopefully it will make some sort of an appearance in a photoshoot soon. Isn’t it cute??

Saturday afternoon I headed over to my parents neighborhood to take pictures at Natasha’s 5th birthday party. I used to nanny for Natasha from 9 months-to about 3 years old, and have photographed each of her birthday parties since she was two. It is mainly the same group of kids each year, and its fun seeing how much they’ve changed in a years time. This year was the first “girls only” ballerina themed party. Natasha even had a ‘real ballerina’ make an appearance and show the girls some new ballet moves. Happy 5th Birthday Natasha! I can’t believe how fast your growing up. Enjoy a few detail shots!

Day in LA

It all started back when we were 7..ish..  She was always spunky, outgoing and silly, and I was shy, quiet and silly. We went camping together as girl scouts, got in trouble for staying up way too late talking at sleepovers, and seemed to be the only two girls not even remotely interested in boys. Basically we have been friends for as long as I can remember. We were in each others weddings and although we are separated by distance I think we will remain life long friends.

Yesterday, I was able to drive up and spend the day roaming around downtown LA for the day with Chloe. We made our way through the crowded markets in the fashion district, got some yummy, organic, lactose free ice cream from Kind Kreme, and had the best mexican food at Mas Malo. Have you ever had a ground beef & pickle taco? yup.. sounds iffy but super yummy. Afterwards we stopped off at Botega Loui for some coffee. When you walk in its like your entering a perfect & colorful wonderland! The restaurant is amazing, but they are also known for their pastries and desserts.

Chloe and Giovan have the trendiest apartment in LA! They actually were recently featured on Apartment Therapy, check it out!My favorite peace she has is the library card coffee table! So cool, right?
